The intent of the UWW Bassfest has always been to provide students with an opportunity to design and teach their own courses. Since UW-Whitewater has so many music education majors I thought that this would be a valuable supplement to their regular studies. My current and former students pictured here–Tyler, Nic, Joe, and Justin–have all been involved in teaching classes at Bassfest. Joe actually attended the first few Bassfests here as a high school student before enrolling at UWW as a bass major. On Saturday (BF ’06) he taught several electric bass and jazz master classes and performed in the faculty bass quintet at the end of the day.
