Present Music Celebrates 25 Years with 11 World Premieres!

Milwaukee, WisconsinPresent Music, Milwaukee‘s internationally acclaimed new music ensemble announces their 25th Anniversary Season……new commissions, world premieres, guest artists and collaborations!

25 Years! Season Opener

Saturday, September 9, 7:15 pm

Vogel Hall- Marcus Center for the Performing Arts – 929 N. Water St.

Three World Premieres including an outdoor theatrical arrival of the musicians concocted by wizard composer, Phil Kline. Pre-concert festivities on the Milwaukee River beginning at 6:30 with dancing and live music by the eclectic Izvor. Inside you’ll hear brand new music by Mexican composer Armando Luna and emerging composer Judd Greenstein. After the concert the celebration continues with food, dancing, live music and surprises!

Thanksgiving

Friday, November 17, 7:30pm and Sunday, November 19, 4:00 pm

St. John’s Cathedral – 820 North Jackson Street

Two World Premiers! Present Music favorites Kamran Ince and Michael Torke will each create a piece for our annual Thanksgiving concert. Present Music will be joined by the Milwaukee Children’s Choir, Milwaukee Choral Artists and the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Senior Orchestra for two of the largest premiers in our history! Also featured will be organist Karen Beaumont and the annual tradition with The Bucks, American Indian Drumming and Singing Group.

For this concert we squeeze Two World Premiers of the unpredictable Randall Woolf and Present Music newcomer Melissa Mazolli. Composers and accordionists, Guy Klucevsek and Stas Venglevski team up for some dynamic duos, and the Milwaukee Accordion Club delivers delicious pre-concert appetizers.

Featuring French songs that chanteuse extraordinaire, Robin Pluer, loves to sing. The World Premiere of Hibiscus by Chinese composer Xiaogang Ye. Mrs. Fun joins the band with their dazzling energy on stage and for a post concert PARTY!

UWM Zelazo Hall – 2419 E. Kenwood Blvd

A World Premiere by Elena Kats- Chernin. Her music is international in flavor and influence. You’ll also hear The Chamber Concerto by Finnish composer Kimmo Hakola- a work to be performed during Present Music’s all Hakola concert at Columbia University’s Miller Theater Concert Series in New York City.

25 Years! Season Finale

Saturday June 9, 7:30 p.m.

UWM Zelazo Hall – 2419 E. Kenwood Blvd.

Two World Premiers, a pipa virtuoso and a diva! Amy X Neuburg and Gao Hong return- and you’ll hear a premier by Present Music first-timer, Gregory Spears. Stick around for the after-concert party and celebrate! 25 Years!
