Rolle from BassFireBlog just left me a comment pointing out these two great sites from Jonas Lohse in Germany. One site is his own blog:

http://www.kontrabassblog.de/

It is an all-German site. My German is pretty terrible, so reading the posts is slow for me, but it is a really excellent blog. He has a lot of good bass and music-related links in the sidebar. It is definitely worth checking out.

The second site is in English, and it looks like a tremendous resource for double bassists:

http://www.doublebassguide.com/

It has sections covering:

  1. Articles on the evolution of the double bass – http://www.doublebassguide.com/
  2. A gear guide – http://www.doublebassguide.com/4_pickups.html
  3. A great page of bass links – http://www.doublebassguide.com/4_links.html
  4. A wiki page – http://www.doublebassguide.com/4_lexikon.html

The wiki page looks like it is all in German, but I would encourage all bassist to check it out. Wikis are a relatively new development. For those who haven’t heard the term, a wiki is a page that anybody can add to or edit. Wikipedia is a great example of a wiki on a massive scale. I also maintain my own bass wiki page (mainly for my university students) at http://jasonheath.wikispaces.com/Whitewater+Bass+Studio.

Check out these great sites from Jonas Lohse!
