My fiancee Courtney and I spent all of Monday walking around Lincoln Park in Chicago. Here are a few shots of our walk.

This is the Lincoln Park Conservatory. This great building was completed in 1895, and you can definitely tell its age up close. It has four large halls and is free to the public, like so many great things in Chicago. That is actually one of my favorite things about Chicago–one can see the Lincoln Park Zoo, Lincoln Park Conservatory, and the Grant Park Symphony for free anytime, and on certain days also see the Art Institute of Chicago, Field Museum, Shedd Aquarium, and Museum of Science & Industry.

There is nature everywhere even though this park is in the middle of the city. This is the North Pond of Lincoln Park just north of the Lincoln Park Conservatory. In the background behind the ducks you can see rings set up in the water for practicing fly fishing.

The bird flying low across the water in this picture is a blue heron. I was very surprised to see these birds in Lincoln Park. They always seem to keep their distance from people. There were two blue heron flying around this pond. In the distance you can see downtown Chicago, with the John Hancock building on the left.

Believe it or not, the bust in the middle of the park is Georg Solti, former conductor of the Chicago Symphony!

Here is a grainly little video from my outdated digital camera. One of these days I will pick up something that takes higher quality video:
