Right now I am in Omaha, Nebraska at my great friend Aaron Burman’s wedding. Aaron is one of my best friends from Sioux Falls, South Dakota (where I grew up). It is hot, windy, and muggy here in Omaha, and we are just about to head out to the service.

Omaha is a town of about 300,000 people on the Missouri river on the border of Nebraska and Iowa (for those of you who aren’t familiar with U.S. midwest geography). It is three hours south of where I grew up, and I have spent a lot of time here over the years. To get a taste of what Omaha is like, check out the movie “Election”. THAT is true Omaha all the way.

I would be playing in the Elgin Symphony and the Lake Forest Symphony this weekend were it not for this wedding. I wouldn’t have missed those performances for anybody but my friend Aaron–it is a lot of work and my checking account will really feel it, but it is definitely worth the hit.

I am one of the groomsmen, and we are dressed like people in a Star Trek episode–very strange. Actually, I like the groomsmen outfit a lot. I’ll try to sneak in another post today if have time. Otherwise, expect more music news from me when I get back tomorrow!
