Michael Hovnanian of the Chicago Symphony recently started a bass blog. Michael was my teacher at Northwestern University for my undergraduate and graduate degrees, and it is really great to see him start a blog! I just added his blog to my Blogroll in the sidebar of this blog.

In addition to playing in the Chicago Symphony, Michael teaches at Roosevelt University, is president of Discordia Music (double bass music publishers), and plays in the Ars Viva Symphony Orchestra and with the Gunnelpumpers. You can read his complete bio here.

This is a blog that all bass players should check out. Michael already has some interesting posts up about playing Mozart and the CSO bass section rotation policy, and I’d encourage everybody to check in with this blog regularly.
