We are playing Hungarian works by various composers this week in the Elgin Symphony. I have played all of these works in various groups in the past–in fact, I played a nearly identical concert with the Northbrook Symphony about four years ago. Internationally acclaimed pianist Arnaldo Cohen joins Robert Hanson and the ESO in his first Chicagoland concerto appearance for a Hungarian-inspired program of Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 1, Brahms’ Hungarian Dances Nos. 5 & 6, and Kodály’s Suite from his opera Háry János.
