The Official Google Blog recently wrote a post about Google’s new partnership with Teach for America. Google states:

In recognition of the strengths exhibited by Teach For America corps members and their strong commitment to education, Google is offering two-year deferrals to individuals who are accepted into Teach For America’s program and who also receive a full-time offer to join Google. In addition to being able to defer their Google employment, participants in the program will receive a Google internship for the summer between their first and second years of teaching, and will be paired with a Google mentor, who will work with them throughout their teaching commitment. After completing their commitments in the classroom, participants will start their full-time roles at Google.

Read the complete offer here.

This sounds like an interesting and innovative offer, and it further demonstrates Google’s interest in education. Their Google for Educators offerings (read my previous post about this here) combined with this new pairing show that they are making education a priority, which is really a great thing to see from a company with their power. Google has the ability to really shape the future, and it will be interesting to see what new educational ideas they develop in the months and years to come.
