I just got an e-mail from my friend John Grillo, and I realized that I have never mentioned him on the bass blog. This is surprising, because John is one of the most interesting and original musicians I have ever met. John performs frequently with the Pittsburgh Opera and has been studying with Pittsburgh Symphony principal bass Jeff Turner. He was previously in the New World Symphony.
I played the Pacific Music Festival in Sapporo, Japan with John several years ago, which was a real blast. I have stacks of photos from this event that I have yet to scan into the computer. When I do, I’ll be sure to write some crazy gig stories about that trip.

John is always contributing to the world of music in interesting ways, and I will be sure to highlight some of his recent projects on this blog in the future.
