Michael Hovnanian recently wrote a post on his CSO Bass Blog about Max Dimoff’s warm-up packet. He writes about one of the string crossing exercises (a Simandl Gradus ad Parnessum-style exercise) in particular from these warm-ups and shows it’s application in passages from the orchestral literature. Check out his post here.

These exercises are very interesting and worth checking out. They are mostly written in A major, and it is unclear from the packet whether they are to be transposed into other keys. If not you’ll probably get really, really good at playing in A major!

If you’re interested in checking these Max Dimoff exercises out you can download them here.
