Doublebassblog.com working again
This isn’t a big deal to anyone but me, but my URL doublebassblog.com finally got released from the screwed up morass I described earlier, so that will get you to my blog as well. I won’t be moving back to that URL anytime soon, but if you type it into your address bar it will forward you here.

How were you able to accomplish this? My blog is totally screwed because of this poor service.

I ended up being wrong–it was torpedoed by this service, and I had to call GoDaddy to have them help update some information that wasn’t working. Over a week after deleting the CNAME entry for ghs.google.com my URL was still forwarding to the Google subdomain. Irritating.
