Readers of my blog have probably noticed that I’ve added a few ads here and there. Long-time readers of my blog (those from late 2005/early 2006) may remember that I used to have ads up here. I took them down when I redesigned, preferring the cleaner look of an ad-free blog.

Doing Contrabass Conversations costs money, and while it is significantly cheaper to do this sort of thing these days than it was a few years ago, it does cost bucks. The ads that I’ve recently added are a way to hopefully recoup some of the costs of this endeavor.

I am trying my best to make these ads as unobtrusive as possible. I hate websites that are peppered with ads screaming at me to buy stuff. I do understand why sites do that, but I am going to be as subtle as I can with these. You may notice some links in the sidebar and below the posts–I’m going to try to keep them off of the top part of the page and keep it looking clean for the user.

Telling you outright to click on them (for the Google ads) is not OK, but this is just a quick FYI that any clicks on Google ads do help to support the blog, and any purchases made through the Amazon links do send the blog a percentage (which comes out of Amazon’s end, not yours). Any support is appreciated, and any proceeds go to cover the costs of the podcast.

I am also adding a couple of other things to the site soon that will monetize it a bit, but they will not be ad-based and will not interfere with the usability or readability of this blog. I’ll say more later, but they should actually be pretty cool new features.
