Cleveland Orchestra double bassist Charles Barr was tragically killed while riding his bicycle in August of 2006. He was 31 years old and had previously played in the Charleston Symphony and the New World Symphony.

Cleveland Orchestra violist Richard Waugh will be bicycling 3000 miles across the United States in 17 days to celebrate the life of Charles Barr. Richard’s project is called Riding for Charles, and he has established the website ridingforcharles.com to provide for more information on his project. If you would like to support this great project please consider visiting this website and making a contribution.

Richard also started a blog about this project. You can visit his blog at ridingforcharles.blogspot.com. I also added this blog to my Music Blogs blogroll in the sidebar of my blog.

I’d like to thank double bassist Kirsty Matheson for alerting me to this project by Richard Waugh.
