I am busy adding links to the Bass Blog Sheet Music Store, trying to provide links to what I consider to be the most important solos, method books, etude books, orchestral studies books, and more. This section of the blog will continue to grow over time, so feel free to check in from time to time, and let me know if you have any suggestions for material to add (not necessarily just sheet music).

This music store section of the blog serves a double purpose. First, it does help to support the blog financially. But second, it gives me an opportunity to present the material that I feel is most crucial to double bass study. I am offering some context and commentary to each of the volumes that I list here, giving a little information about what level of student should use this book, for what purpose, and any potential drawbacks or complexities to the material.

This is information that you don’t see in regular catalogs, and it is something that I hope will help students and teachers who may be unfamiliar with standard double bass literature to get a handle on what is commonly taught. I won’t list any material in here that I haven’t used or do not approve of pedagogically.

Finally, I am trying to lay out an order of study for the young bassist, putting material that I usually teach in the sequence that I typically introduce it.

I hope this helps, and please let me know if you have any feedback or suggestions.
