International Society of Bassists Orchestral Competition deadline fast approaching
There are only a few days left to register for the International Society of Bassists Orchestral Competition occurring during this year’s convention in Oklahoma. Here is some information about this event:
Judges for 2007 Orchestral Competition
Jordan Anderson, principal bass, Seattle Symphony
Gottfried Engels, Düsseldorf Symphony and University of Music, Cologne
Robert Kassinger, Chicago Symphony
Jeremy McCoy, assistant principal, Metropolitan Opera Orchestra
Nicolas Tsolainos, principal bass, Dallas Symphony

The first prize will be a week’s paid internship with the Dallas Symphony, as well as a new bow by Carbow. The second prize is $1000, and the third prize is $750.

The details looked confusing to me…and the presentation makes it difficult to read. I still can’t figure out if I would be too old to take part in this. *winks*

Actually, I got word through the grapevine that people could still apply through the end of this week. Officially it is closed, but they are still taking people if you get in touch.
