Tuesday, April 3rd, 2007 was a very exciting day for the Chicago double bass scene as Francois Rabbath made a rare trip to our Lake Michigan metropolis. Chicago Symphony member and DePaul University double bass instructor Rob Kassinger organized a master class with Francois, and at least 50 bass players and enthusiasts attended the event.

It was a real pleasure for me personally to see this event happen. Francois is a fabulous musician, bassist, and educator, and he radiates a personal warmth and love of both music and of people in everything he does.

The agility of this great musician is truly outstanding to witness, and the ease and grace evident in his bass playing are a testament to the solid foundation of his special approach to the instrument.

I will be writing much more about this event and about the teachings of Francois in the future, but I just wanted to let readers know about this great event.
