John Grillo and I just interviewed Indiana University double bass professor Lawrence Hurst last night for Contrabass Conversations. This interview was both a thrill and an honor for me to do, and it is an example of the amazing possibilities that podcasting provides for sharing, educating, and entertaining the global double bass community.

I know that bass players from all walks of life will really get a lot out of this interview, and I look forward to hearing from listeners after this interview is released. I will be putting out the first part of our conversation with Mr. Hurst next weekend.

It was great to do this interview wit John Grillo as co-host. John studied at Indiana University with Mr. Hurst for his undergraduate degree, and as a result John had a unique and different set of questions that I would not have had the forethought to ask. I think that listeners will really enjoy the dynamic between the three of us on this episode. What a great opportunity and pleasure it was to do this!

John has been a frequent guest and collaborator on both the blog and on Contrabass Conversations, and I look forward to having him co-host more episodes in the future. You can check out John’s Contrabass Conversations appearances below:
