Alex Ross (New Yorker critic and blogger) has been making visits to some non-coastal orchestras recently. Dubbing it his ‘I 65 tour’, he has visited the Indianapolis, Nashville, and Alabama Symphony in quick succession.
He’s got some great photos of these three cities along with some commentary about all three of these orchestras (their venues, ensemble members, and the like). I see that he had breakfast with Zeneba Bowers and Jeremy Williams from the Nashville Symphony, two of my former colleagues from the Britt Music Festival in Jacksonville, Oregon. Check out day 1 and day 2 of his experiences on his blog now, and expect more commentary in a future New Yorker.
