El Paso Symphony bassist Jesus Apodaca alerted me to an upcoming audition for both assistant principal bass and section bass for the El Paso Symphony. The El Paso Symphony’s Music Director is Sarah Ioannides, and she is an excellent young conductor, having served as assistant conductor of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Tan Dun’s assistant conductor, as well as conducting performances with the BBC and London Symphony.
