Note – I wrote this post before checking through my daily blog reads, at which point I found that Matt Wengerd had already blogged this story. Check out his post on this tale from Michael Hovnanian’s CSO Bass Blog.

Michael Hovnanian (this coming weekend’s Contrabass Conversations guest) just wrote a great post titled Showdown at the CSOK Corral detailing the Chicago Symphony’s generally hostile reaction to the conducting of Myung-Whun Chung. This is a great example of how difficult and demanding professional orchestra members can be on conductors, and how things such as eye contact or a perceived aloofness can magnify themselves into Titanic proportions.

Check this post out–it’s a must read. Also, check out our interview with Michael, coming out on June 10th!
