I have been doing a few tweaks here and there to the user interface for this blog. Nothing major, but hopefully it will help to clarify things and make some features more obvious. In addition to the Articles and Forums links below the Contrabass Conversations banner, you’ll notice that I have added an Auditions tab at the top of the blog layout. In addition to posting new double bass vacancies (both for performance and educational positions), I will offer a little commentary about the position–any inside information, practical data, or other useful news that a typical audition ad fails to provide.

I’d welcome any submissions from users regarding openings, no matter what country or how lowly (or lofty) the position. You can always e-mail me (jsh177@yahoo.com) or leave a comment on the blog with such information. If you’d like to provide me with any “inside” information on the position, feel free to do so.

I also plan on starting two new sections on the blog (both requests from readers). The first is a Luthiers tab. I mentioned this addition last month and got a couple of great names to add to the list. In addition to these (and the names I already have on my music links page), I am looking for names of luthiers worldwide, as well as any pertinent information (good with extensions, build instruments as well as general repairs, use for minor work only, and the like).

Look for this tab in the next week or so, and please send me your favorite bass luthiers/instrument specialists!

Lastly, I am going to be starting a section on recommended music injury and prevention specialists. A colleague of mine remarked recently on how difficult it is to find a comprehensive list of such information, and me suggested starting an index of recommended medical professionals specializing in musician injury. I think that this is a great idea, but I need your help to get this going. Please e-mail me any recommendations for such professionals, or leave a comment on the blog. Thanks!
