Four bass players playing one instrument

Yesterday I posted a video sent to me by Peter Szczepanek featuring Stringfever (a U.K.-based string quartet) playing Bolero on one cello all at the same time.

After asking when bass players would try the same thing, Márcio Domingues from Portugal said…

hi jason! cool video. and you might me happy to find out that this idea has already been done in doublebass!! by none other than Michael Wolf, the current teacher at the Universität der Kunste in Berlin (the Berlin Arts University). here’s the links to a couple of pictures:

and as for the end result i think you can listen to it here:

it’s the first link from the “Gallerie Mutter Fourage” concert. i’ll bet you’ll have a great laugh! enjoy!

You will have to use the dreaded Real Player to hear the track that Márcio mentioned, but it is a hoot. If only they had audio of this event! Here is a photo of the four bass players in action on one bass:

Professor Michael Wolf’s bass studio website is a really excellent resource that I have used for years. If you haven’t checked it out before, take a minute and visit it. It has been in my blogroll for quite a while now, but you can also click here to check it out.

  1. Hey there-

I have a dog named Angie Lou. We sing the song “Angie” by the Rolling Stones to her. She howls and whines when we play it.

We also call her “Lula”. One day I was listening to John Lennon’s version of “Bee Bop A Lula” my dog started dancing to this song she is so cute. I need to get it on video.
