We’ll be featuring an interview with Chicago Symphony bassist Brad Opland this week on Contrabass Conversations. Brad has also provided some great tracks featuring both himself on electric bass and an arrangement of Ibert’s Quatre Cansons de Don Quichotte that Brad created for bassoon and double bass.
We will also be launching our Chicago Chamber Musicians Showcase series this fall, starting with a complete performance of the Ibert mentioned above and continuing with other chamber music performances featuring the double bass. The Chicago Chamber Musicians have graciously allowed their material to be used for this purpose, and giving the bass community a chance to hear performances of both the major works in the repertoire and undiscovered gems like the Ibert will be an extremely positive development.
