Virtual Lesson with Andrew Anderson – part 2

This is our next installment of Lyric Opera of Chicago and Grant Park Symphony bassist Andy Anderson’s Virtual Lesson series.  This episode covers holding the bow and concepts and exercises to aid in the development of a solid bow technique.  We get a lot of close-up shots of Andy’s bow hand and the various bow holds he advocates.

You can view all the released episodes of this series (as well as all of our other blog/podcast bass videos) in the bass blog video player in the upper-left-hand corner of the blog, or click below to watch a high-resolution version.  If you click the little rectangle in the podcast video player in the upper-left, you’ll be able to watch all of our videos high-resolution and full screen.

Click here to check out all of Andy’s offerings at Contrabass Conversations, and click here to check this video out on YouTube.  This will also be released through the Contrabass Conversations podcast, so if you’re subscribed, you’ll get a portable copy of this valuable project as well.  Enjoy!

A useful post. I like the exercises that were shared, especially the inching up and down, and across the bow. :)
