Great response to Ranaan Meyer CBC episodes

We’ve had a really enthusiastic response to our Ranaan Meyer interview episode (featuring a healthy amount of music from the excellent band Time for Three) and video episode of Ranaan playing his tune I’m Tryin’.  In fact, we’ve been getting great responses to all of our recent (and previous) Contrabass Conversations projects, including our Orchestral Excerpt Breakdown with co-host John Grillo and our Virtual Lesson video series with Andy Anderson, as well as our older episodes featuring François Rabbath, Eric Hochberg, Lawrence Hurst, Greg Sarchet, Jeff Turner, Brad Opland, Michael Hovnanian, Rob Kassinger, and our other fabulous guests.

We’re fast approaching the 50,000 mark for total downloaded episodes, which is a pretty hefty number for a niche podcast on the double bass.  While I’d still put these out if that figure were half that (or even less), having a healthy audience is further motivation to keep putting these episodes out on a regular basis.

Those numbers don’t include the CBC video episodes, which are being watched quite frequently as well.  From our Contrabass Conversations video player (you can also find all of these videos at www.doublebass.blip.tv), we’re getting around 140 views a day, plus another few hundred from our YouTube channel.  Through blip.tv, we also syndicate these videos to the Internet Archive, del.icio.us, MySpace, Facebook, Akimbo, Yahoo! Video, AOL Video, MeeVee, Mefeedia, Meebo,  Blinkx, SplashCast, and Pando (whew!).

This means, in short, that our video episodes can be seen in almost every nook and cranny of the Internet, and even on television (in some cases, with some providers), so getting metrics on these videos is enormously difficult.  It’s safe to say, in any case, that these videos are proving to be very popular as well, and they are pushing the numbers for the podcast ever higher.

If you’d like to watch all of our video content, you can just click the play button in the video player in the upper-left-hand section of the blog.  This allows you to watch all of our video episodes back-to-back or browse quickly through them to find the content you’re looking for.

We’ll also be rolling together certain videos (like the Virtual Lesson series with Andy) into one player so that you can watch all of the episodes in order, with easy access to the various chapters.
