We’ve got some really exciting news for bassists out there–double bassist (and Contrabass Conversations guest) Phillip Serna has secured the rights to release the Eduard Tubin Concerto on the Contrabass Conversations podcast, and we’ll be soon featuring a video performance of this fantastic concerto with Phillip as bass soloist.
Getting permission to have this 20th century piece played on the podcast took a lot of work, with both the music publisher and Northwestern University (Phillip performed the piece with the NU summer orchestra) needing to OK the release. Anyway, getting a chance to put this extremely cool piece out there should help to give this much-overlooked gem of the double bass repertoire some exposure.
