Google has been hosting a series called Authors @ Google at their Mountain View, CA headquarters. They recently had New Yorker writer Alex Ross speak about his new book "The Rest is Noise". I have seen this video of the presentation pop up on the classical music blogosphere over the last couple of weeks, but I finally hunkered down and watched the hour-plus video on Sequenzia21.com. Check it out, even if you can’t see the whole hour. Alex does a great job documenting the development of 20th century classical music for a crowd of intelligent but not necessarily art music savvy folks, with lots of musical examples and funny asides.
