Readers of Adaptistration, the orchestra management blog by Drew McManus, may have noticed this in the sidebar recently:

Arts Addict
A new blog from Jason Heath coming Nov. 19th

Whaaaa?  Jason is starting a new blog?  Yes, I am.  Although regular readers may think that I’m nuts (guessing correctly what a ridiculous amount of work this current blog generates), there is a very good reason for doing so.

Here’s the deal–most of what I write about in my long-form writing (the kind of material found under the articles tab) is only tangentially related (if related at all) to the double bass.  While I find that many bass players enjoy these articles, essays, and stories, non-bass players can be somewhat hesitant to wade into the hurricane of content generated by this blog.

Arts Addict will be like the bass blog, only without the bass!  You’ll still find my original writing here, as well as all of the other projects we’ve got going on, but you can also check out Arts Addict for broader-based writing from yours truly.

I’m working on the behind-the-scenes technical stuff now, but I’ve already got some new content ready to launch on November 19th, so stay tuned for a formal announcement in a couple of weeks.

____________

For now, I urge readers to check out Sticks and Drones, the new Adaptistration blog from conductors Ron Spigelman and Bill Eddins.  Both Bill and Ron put out introductory posts today, so head on over and read about what will in all likelihood be a very entertaining and informative blog.
