We hope you enjoyed our interview with Chicago Symphony bassist Brad Opland on this week’s Contrabass Conversations episode. Brad is an outstanding double bassist and a great interview guest, and I really enjoyed getting a chance to chat with Brad. You can visit Brad’s Contrabass Conversations page to hear both parts of this interview.
Brad has facilitated the upcoming release of Chicago Chamber Musicians recordings featuring double bass, and we are going to be presenting programmatically similar music on upcoming episodes, grouping pieces like the Scubert "Trout" Quintet with the Dvorak Quintet, the Beethoven Septet with the Schubert Octet, and Stravinsky’s L’Histoire with the Prokofiev Quintet. There are many other such related groupings in store, and I know that musicians out there will really get a lot out of hearing this outstanding ensemble perform these works.
Check them out online at www.chicagochambermusic.org, and stay tuned here for more information on this exciting new project!
