General Information - Founded in 1888, the
Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra is one of the world’s leading orchestras and works
with the most important internationally recognized conductors, soloists and
composers. Mariss Jansons is only the sixth Chief Conductor in the Orchestra’s
rich history. In addition to concerts in the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, with
its world-famous acoustics, the orchestra’s activities include concerts
elsewhere in the Netherlands and in other countries as well as radio and
television broadcasts and audio recordings. Repertoire will include Dittersdorf
or Vanhal (1st and 2nd movements, without cadenzas); Koussevitzky of Bottesini
(1st and 2nd movements) Orchestral tuning (E-A-D-G) Any candidate whose
principal residence is outside of Europe is strongly encouraged to send an audio
recording of his/her playing. Repertoire requirements and guidelines for the
preparation of the recording may be found on our website or requested at the
e-mail address below. On the basis of these recordings, the committee will
decide which of these candidates will be invited for the second round of this
audition. The recordings must reach the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra before the
deadline for applications. The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra works to provide
its members with suitable instruments, which are loaned to the musicians during
their employment with the orchestra. We reserve the right to make a preliminary
selection based on letters of application.

General Information - The Hong Kong
Philharmonic Orchestra is at the heart of the musical and artistic life of this
exciting city, bringing great music to audiences throughout the region and
attracting the world’s finest artists to perform in its diverse and vibrant
44-week season. Since Edo de Waart became Artistic Director and Chief Conductor
in 2004, the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra has embarked on a long term
program of expansion and artistic growth. Should further positions be available
for audition, these will be confirmed in mid-February 2008. Please see our
