Double Bass Private Teacher Directory

There is certainly no shortage of private music teacher directories.  Companies such as www.privatelessons.com and www.clickforlessons.com will (for a fee) allow you to create a directory listing, which can be a very useful promotional tool.  Still, in the spirit of offering a free suite of services for the double bass performer, student, and educator, we’d like to offer a list of double bass teachers organized by region.

How do you get on this list?  Simple!  Just fill out the form at the bottom of this post, or click the contact link to leave us your info.  Be sure to include your location, contact info, and a little bit about your education plus your teaching and performing background.  We’ll roll this information up and put it on a special page on the blog.

This blog has a lot of student (and parent) traffic, so this would be a good way to get the word out about your teaching studio.  With this inclusion, we’ve now got the following set of free services available for the bass community:

    Jason,

Please put me on your teaching list.

    Bill Harrison

I offer private lessons on upright and electric basses either downtown or on the NW side. I teach technique, practical theory, reading, styles and improvisation. My main area of interest is jazz and pop, but all types of musicians (including beginners) are welcome in my studios.

I’ve been in the music business for over 30 years, having performed with a variety of jazz luminaries, for many Broadway shows, for private and corporate events and in the recording studio. I have a music degree from Depaul. My teachers include Mark Kraemer, Warren Benfield, Karl Fruh, Dave Holland, Cliff Colnot and Alan Swain.

Please visit http://www.billharrisonmusic.com for a lot more info about my career, teaching philosophy, a sample video lesson and a bunch of free stuff to help you get started.

Jason, I must have missed this post a while back, and now I can’t find the form you mention in the post. Here’s my info:
    Brent Edmondson
Philadelphia, PA and Northern Delaware private teacher in double bass.

I am nearly finished completing a degree at Temple University with Rob Kesselman, that has been supplemented with two years of studying with Ranaan Meyer and two summers of study with Hal Robinson.

I have been teaching for four years now and students of mine have placed in Delaware All-State, Maryland All-Region and All-County, as well as Rowan University and the University of Delaware music program. I perform with the Temple Symphony, the Philadelphia Double Bass Project, and substitute with Symphony in C (formerly the Haddonfield Symphony).

I can be reached at (302) 397-7571 or at dbass@temple.edu
