Duets with, er… yourself


Lyric Opera of Chicago bassist (and Contrabass Conversations guest) Greg Sarchet sent me a link to what is pretty much the greatest bass video of all time. I’m not sure whether to put an ‘explicit’ warning on this one–let’s just say that you may want to skip this one if you have delicate sensibilities.

For the rest of us, check out the expression on the guy’s face when he looks at the camera! This is actually quite well-executed, with both bass and melody line fingerings worked out to complement each other. He must have had to practice ‘holding’ that German bow quite a bit–I know that I would be bowing all over the place!

    Hmm. That must have taken a lot of practice. I’m guessing he doesn’t have “eine Freundin”.
