This is an opportunity not to be missed! Philadelphia Orchestra principal bassist Hal Robinson is joined by Houston Symphony bassist Eric Larson and Time for Three bassist (and Contrabass Conversations guest) Ranaan Meyer for Wabass, a one week free (!) institute for double bass players age 14 and up.

As indicated above, this program features free tuition, room, and board for its participants. Wabass will take place outside of Wabash, Indiana from June 22nd to June 29th, 2008. Required application materials are listed below:

Classical Requirements

-2 contrasting style pieces of your choice from the solo double bass literature that best demonstrate your ability

-In addition, feel free to choose a few orchestral excerpts of your choice.

Jazz Requirements

-2 contrasting style tunes from the standard jazz literature.

-In any order, please perform the melody (head), take a solo (as many or few choruses as you wish), and lay down a mean bass groove.

Remember

-BE CREATIVE – MAKE YOUR OWN ARRANGEMENT

-MAXIMUM LENGTH OF DVD – 10 MINUTES!!!

-DUE postmarked by March 31, 2008

-Choose what best demonstrates your ability and do NOT exceed 10 minutes
