Northwestern University double bass professor Peter Lloyd recently forwarded the following information to me.  If you’re in northern or central Illinois (or if you don’t mind driving a bit), then check out this event with one of the finest bass players out there.  We’ll also have this information listed on our events page.

Hello fellow bass enthusiasts!

My name is Chris Frey.  I am president of the Board of Directors for the Illinois Wesleyan Civic Orchestra.  The IWCO is thrilled to be presenting an "Evening with Edgar Meyer" on April 18th at 7:30pm at the Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts in Bloomington, IL.

I just wanted to take a minute to personally invite each of you and your respective bass studios to be a part of this special evening.  Edgar will be playing the Bottesini Concerto #2 as well as his own work; the Concerto in D.  The orchestra will also be performing the William Tell Overture and the Classical Symphony by Prokofiev.

Ticket prices for this event are most likely the cheapest you will ever find for an Edgar Meyer performance; $20 general admission and $10 for students with valid ID.  For specific ticket information, you can call the BCPA box office at (309) 434-2777 or go to www.artsblooming.org ,click on the "2007 Additional Activites and Events link", scroll down to the IWCO with Edgar Meyer.

I would encourage you to spread the word and forward this email, for what promises to be an extraordinary evening of bass virtuosity.

Hope to see you there!

Chris Frey
