Folks out there in blog and podcast land are really going to dig this new project launching next week from Adaptistration blogger Drew McManus and me. Titled “Because Shut Up, That’s Why!”, this podcast is a lighthearted musical review podcast that features a wide variety of musicians debating various pieces in a fun environment. Drew and I got together with Lyric Opera of Chicago orchestra members Collins Trier (bassist) and Frank Babbitt (violist) plus principal librarian John Rosenkrans (who just happens to author Inside The Arts’ own culture book review).

Drew blogged about this new show earlier this week, writing:

Back in the beginning of April, 2008 Jason Heath (Arts Addict and Double Bass Blog author) and I recorded the first three episodes of Inside The Arts’ new series of podcasts and next Monday, the first episode from that session goes live. This inaugural series is a music review podcast where a panel of guests listens to recordings and then offers comments. Did I mention there’s a catch? In order to make things more interesting, panelists typically aren’t told what or who they are listening to until after they’ve heard the selections and offered comments…

Drew also featured a clip of out-takes with Collins, Frank, and John, and I highly advise heading over to Drew’s post and checking this audio clip out. It’s very entertaining and will give you a good idea of the fun vibe we’ve got going for this podcast. Enjoy, and check it out when it launches next week!
