As a Berklee College of Music student we were required to have macs upon entering the school. They offer a deal for the music equipped macs for around $2,800. Sounds pricey but everybody's comes with Logic, Reason, Finale, Smartmusic, Digital Performer, Audacity and of course the ilife and office suite including word, powerpoint, express, entourage and also programs like note share and file maker pro. All of this bought separately gets up to about the $5,000 range.

I love my mac as well, after being a long time PC user. I use Sibelius for notation though. It is MUCH easier to use and is much more user friendly.

i just thought I'd share a little about my "world". It really is a trip to walk around campus (which is really just a bunch of buildings in the city) and know that everyone has a mac. Our school has a countless number of macs in every building and Wifi is everywhere you go. Steve jobs certainly has a hold on the business. It's only a matter of time until he demands the rights to the world, haha.
