Bass Musician Magazine, the online bimonthly bass publication to which I regularly contribute, just released their one-year anniversary edition. This magazine, which is (in my admittedly biased opinion) superior in content to most print sources about the bass, was started by Jake Kot, and since its inception I’ve been contributing a column highlighting jazz and crossover double bass artists from the Contrabass Conversations archive.

This magazine caters more to the electric bass crowd (a smart move given how many more electric bassists there are out there–TalkBass.com orients itself in a similar fashion), but there is some good double bass content in every issue as well. Feel like getting some weekly double bass content? Well, besides checking back at doublebassblog.org, you can subscribe to Contrabass Conversations and get fresh content for free! (OK, enough shameless plugging for this post…)

You can check out my contribution this month featuring Win Hinkle’s excellent interview with jazz bassist Rufus Reid, and check out the full table of contents here. I know that I’ll be reading the rest of the issue on the iPhone while relaxing out in the New Mexican desert–toasty!
