Edgar Meyer and Chris Thile recital at the University of Chicago 10/24/08

The dynamic mandolin/bass powerhouse of Edgar Meyer and Chris Thile return to Chicago this fall for a concert at the University of Chicago on October 24 at 7:30 p.m. Here’s a link to the University of Chicago performance series website section on the Edgar concerts this year: http://chicagopresents.uchicago.edu/series/edgarmeyer/

Thanks to University of Chicago student and bassist Kirsten Paige for passing this information along.

These guys are all over YouTube–just head over and do a search for dozens of (mostly shaky cell phone) clips. Here’s a video featuring them rocking out for a few minutes at the University of Tennessee (go Volunteers!). Edgar gets pretty funky about a minute-and-a-half into it.

Marvellous sound! It’s fascinating to see the bass played like that too.
