Jeff Bradetich performs the Prelude from Bach Suite No. 1 for Solo Violoncello
Here’s a great video (with high production values to boot!) of University of North Texas and Cleveland Institute double bass professor Jeff Bradetich performing the Prelude from the first Bach Cello Suite. Very cool. I hope that Jeff knows his stuff’s out there on YouTube–something tells me that “deathgrind” (the username of the person who posted this) isn’t Jeff’s handle on YouTube! Jeff is a great player and a great teacher, and if you ever get a chance to study with him you should definitely do so. Thanks to Chicago Youth Symphony bassist Teddy Gabrielides for sending me a link to this!

Hey! I’ve seen this before. I love his playing. Maybe that’s why I look forward to seeing him every other week or so here at CIM. The only recordings I like any better are on Cello, but those are because they sound the way the composer intended them to. Kudos to Jeff, and I hope “deathgrind” has the authority to post that (though it’s great publicity for Jeff too).

I study with Jeff and seriously doubt that “deathgrind” has the rights for this, as a matter of fact I remember that a few month ago Jeff was trying to get a hold of this person…Still, the clip is fantastic..
