My double bass colleague Benjy (who has contributed many posts to this blog in the past) sent me a link to the following video of François Rabbath discussing the differences between French and German bow technique at a Berlin master class. Very interesting.
This video also has a snippet of Rabbath playing some jazz. Folks may not know that he’s a huge jazz aficionado, but he is, and you can see how much he loves it even from these brief seconds of video :

So I was about to send a link to this out to all my students – some of them quite young – until I noticed that when the video finishes the Youtube box has stills for 12 “related” videos. All of them are related to double bass playing except for one – “Perfect Brazillian Girl with Amazing Booty”. Your choice? Will there be a poll on this?
I don’t know how these embedded Youtube things work – maybe you don’t have any control over what they present on your site? Or maybe you have a wacky sense of humor?
