Anna Roberts, one of my former students from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, just started her own blog at hobojabasa.blogspot.com. She’s a great person and a great musician, and it looks like she’s be posting about her dual life as bassist and oboist. Anna was always a great help to me during the Whitewater Winter Bassfest (an event I organized when I first got hired there), and she is a very cool person to boot.
She’s got a post up already about the effects this miserable weather we’re experiencing is having on both her reeds and her bass. She also happens to be a music education student at present, and I’m sure she’ll be writing about that whole process as well.
I’m always surprised as how many bassists and oboists blog. I wonder what exactly it is about these two instruments that makes the people that play them more likely to start a blog than other instruments (actually, we’ve had this conversation here before… about bassists, at least). Since she plays both, I figured it would only be a matter of time before she started blogging. Check it out!
