After a long fall of student teaching, I find myself happily falling back into my old routines, working on the blog, doing podcasts, and getting a couple of Keynote presentations ready to go for later this month. For example, I’m blogging right now in a Subway near the hall in Elgin, killing time before I head over to warm up.

We’re playing an eight service week in the Elgin Symphony, performing Brahms 2, Smetana’s Moldau, and the Barber Cello Concerto (a less familiar work that I enjoy). It’s nice to get back to playing the bass so quickly in January. The Elgin Symphony added this week of services a few years ago, and it always seems like I’ve got nothing else going on so early in January, so I’m appreciative of the work!

Anyway, I’ve got a really good gig story from this week already! I’m not sure if I’ll do a text post or video post, but I’ll do something about it soon. These pesky Keynote presentations seem to be taking up all my free time at the moment….
