Off to the ISB board meeting

I’m headed to Dallas this morning for the International Society of Bassists January board meeting in Dallas. This meeting will focus on, among other things, preparations for the 2009 Convention at Penn State, which will be happening June 8-13.

These ISB conventions are something that you simply have to check out if you can possibly swing it. If you’re a student, you’ll find more enlightening masterclasses and inspiring performances than you can possibly process. If you’re a professional bassist, you’ll find countless opportunities to check out new gear, trade ideas, hear killer recitals, and just generally geek out.

Looking for a new instrument? You’ll probaby never get a better opportunity to try out instrumnts both new and old. Looking for repertoire ideas? Prepare to get your brain stuffed to capacity with intriguing ideas. Want to just see what other bassists are into out there right now? Then this is truly the place to be.

It’s time to kick back and listen to some podcasts during my long train ride to O’Hare, but I’ll keep you updated with more details about the ISB over the weekend.
