This annual event in Madison, Wisconsin is definitely worth checking out if you haven’t had the chance. Several former Contrabass Conversations guests will be clinicians at this event, including:

Richard Davis, Bass Professor at the University of Wisconsin, announces that the 16th Annual Bass Conference will take place on April 10-11, 2009 in Madison, Wisconsin. The Richard Davis Foundation for Young Bassists, Inc., seeks to educate bassists from preschool through high school. The Foundation is a non-profit, tax-exempt corporation that solicits funds and donations needed to offset expenses.Richard Davis Young Bassists Foundation 1.png

This year’s clinicians include: Richard Davis, Virginia Dixon, Peter Dominguez, Diana Gannett, Larry Hutchinson, Jerry Jemmott (electric bass), John Kennedy, Bill Koehler, David Murray, Sandor Ostlund, Bette Premo, Andy Raciti, Rufus Reid, Paul Robinson, Donovan Stokes, and Inez Wyrick.

The conference will take place on the University of Wisconsin campus in Madison at the Lowell Extension Conference Center near Lake Mendota and State Street. We have held the line on costs this year, and kept the tuition is $198.00 for each student. Parents are encouraged to attend (required for students under 16), and family members are encouraged to attend at no tuition cost. Three meals a day for both days totals $52.00 per person. Housing is available in the Lowell Center, and Thursday night arrival is suggested. Registration starts Friday, April 10 at 7:45 a.m; the conference begins at 9:00 a.m.
