YouTube Symphony – Original LSO Performance

You know, the more I poke around the YouTube Symphony channel, the more I like the idea. The world’s first internet symphony really is a cool idea, and it’s indicative of things to come for our art form. Is it gimmicky? Sure–but that’s not the point. This is a prime example of musicians collaborating online in a genuinely interesting fashion. As I watch the audition videos pour in (and we’ll be featuring a lot of the bass ones here on the blog), I get more and more fascinated by this whole project.

Here’s the video that started it all–the Symphony No. 1 “Eroica” by Tan Dun, performed by the Lonon Symphony and beautifully captured here on video.

    Thanks for the heads up on this. Need to crawl out from under my rock. Did you see the guy doing the bass part on 6 string electric bass? Its one of the faves.

    Is it possible to ask one of the stars: Mr. Ruiz, Mr. Furtok or Mr. Guy Tuneh to post a video of themself playing this Audition??
