You know, the more I poke around the YouTube Symphony channel, the more I like the idea. The world’s first internet symphony really is a cool idea, and it’s indicative of things to come for our art form. Is it gimmicky? Sure–but that’s not the point. This is a prime example of musicians collaborating online in a genuinely interesting fashion. As I watch the audition videos pour in (and we’ll be featuring a lot of the bass ones here on the blog), I get more and more fascinated by this whole project.

Here’s the video that started it all–the Symphony No. 1 “Eroica” by Tan Dun, performed by the Lonon Symphony and beautifully captured here on video.
