Former Contrabass Conversations guest Justin Locke’s sister has a case of old Oak rosin:
I have a little case of Oak Bass Rosin (Hard) that’s a million years old, hardly used. Any value to this?
Anyone interested? This is the classic rosin, though it quit being made decades ago. Collector’s item? Leave a comment if you’re interested and I’ll put you in touch.

I’m interested-thanks for posting 🙂
Jason,
I don’t know if you already knew this, but Arnold Gregorian of the Baltimore symphony is making oak rosin again- the exact same formula.

I have a friend who has a new cake and was able to try some- It’s great stuff!
Arnold Gregorian, a bassist, bought the original formula and is making soft, medium and hard cakes for $22 each. You can order it online at:

I love the new Oak rosin (I use the soft cake). Someone might be into the older stuff just to check it out–nostalgic value. I’m sure it’s pretty dry by now!
