As we move (slowly but surely) into spring, we’ll be putting out a gaggle of cool new interview episodes on Contrabass Conversations. If you haven’t stopped by the site recently, check it out–I just did a pretty radical redesign, and I’d like to know what you think.
Lawrence Wolfe interview
We’ll be putting out an interview with Boston Symphony Assistant Principal Bass Lawrence Wolfe in the next few weeks. I had a chance to check out a wonderful master class that Mr. Wolfe did at Northwestern in the fall of 2008, and I did a summary/synopsis of some of the concepts and ideas covered in this class as well. I’m really looking forward to chatting with Larry–he’s one of my favorite bassists, and listening endlessly to his solo record really shaped how I approach the double bass when I was in college.
Max Dimoff Interview
Co-host John Grillo and I will be interviewing Cleveland Orchestra Principal Bass Max Dimoff later this week, and you can expect to hear this interview in about a week-and-a-half. In addition to his duties with the Cleveland Orchestra, Max teaches at the Cleveland Institute of Music along with Jeff Bradetich, one of our previous Contrabass Conversations guests. I’m really pumped for this interview–it’s been a while since John and I have co-hosted one of these, and getting chance to chat with a player of Max’s caliber is a real treat indeed.
Other Recent Guests
Here are a few of our more recent guests from Contrabass Conversations. Check them out if you haven’t had a chance to recently, and let me know if you’ve got any ideas for new guests or want to interview someone for the show–we do guest host episodes, and we’d love to have you involved if you’re up for it!
