This video features double bassist Guy Tuneh (former Contrabass Conversations guest) performing the Kirchensonate in Eb Major by Mozart for the 2009 Bodenseefestival. This recoding features Rainer Kussmaul and Aysen Ulucan (violins), Guy Tuneh (bass), and Christian Hommel (organ). Guy is a marvelous double bassist, captivating in both solo and chamber performances, and it is a pleasure to feature his playing here on the blog!

What does he eat every morning, that he play so Fantastic!
what a pleasure to see/hear him with this Great Violin Players.
No words to describe, its just pure and like heaven.
His smooth playing and great rendition as a Basso is just
admirable.
something in his sound is very uniqe!
BRAVO!
Rainer pick always the Best thè la Best!
Jason to I have to say keep on to bring such a phenomenal materiell.
Göttlich !!
Rainer – nothing to say about him as the former Berlin Philharmonic Concertmaster, great playing.
Aysen – she is special (she gotabe new, never heard of her before),
Guy – what an Artist, this guy defines a new way of playing the bass, I followed his bow-teachnic, no idea what he do with his bow but it sounds extraordinary like no way to explain it…
What a rare video.
Jason should win the titel the blog of the year!
Thanks for the link to download,
its just… I’m Speechless.
Can someone explain me which technic uses Guy Tuneh with his bow?
I prefer Guy Tuneh as a Solo performer!
for Basso-continuo its much to much.
We have in France the “Ensemble Les Dissonances”, this is a mini chamber orchestra to have win great international prices, they are the best musions in france and together with orpheus chamber orchestra are the best chamber orchestras in the world!
An Orchestra of high-Talented individualist Solists with long record of international performing, no conductor, extrem love to music and original ideas!!! they are like God in Europe!.
The Violin Virtuos David Grimal is the boss and the one to build this ensemble.
I’m not sure but a new rumor from Paris say that after long time of looking for 1. Solo-Bass they pointed at Double-bass Virtuoso Guy Tuneh.
If this is true this ensemble wil rich a new level, and i will be sad, becaus Guy Tuneh was my Hero as a Soloist, let us hope that he will go on with this way, because I learn so much from his way of playing and enjoying his great music personality.
thanks to this video its clear that even the best violin player out there have to do more to give Guy Tuneh a real contra!!
Bravo Guy, You played so well last weekend in Paris!
Thank You M° David Grimal, thank you Guy Tuneh and thank to the Players of the Genius “Ensemble Les Dissonances” for this evening of the best Buch ever.
best to everyone
Pierre.
Hei J.
Great new layout!
Tuneh and Co. are giving you a new insperation ahh.
Go on like this budy, for this kind of Videos we love you all!
Rumors… I love it!
If its true, this is the best think that can happen to this ensemble!
No bassist until today (& we speak about some of the principals of the best orchestras and oper-houses in Eorupe) could match this Great temperamentful ensemble.
To play with these guy you should be from other kind, they live the music 24 hours a day,
Genius poeple without privat life only music, but GREAT music!
M° Tuneh looks like the right technic/Energey Bomb for this guys!
But:
Mr. Tuneh is a Artist from a kind of never fit in
an Ensemble for long time…, he is a Solo in his Blud!
So, rumor is a rumor until no one poof it!
I’ll check The Maestro’s web site for more info in the future to come…
(I’ll be back)
This Video is one of the best versions I heard of this work!
(No need to reapet BRAVO)
“Pierre” take a good look at this video:

If there is a Bass Player to “Give them Back”
then its Only Guy Tuneh!
D. Grimal & G. Tuneh goes perfect together:
both Crazy Genius!!!!!!!!!!!!
Where are all the low comments???
What, no one envy today??????????!!!!!!!!!!
Jason are moderate again?!
Simplay BRAVO Rainer for showing this Great Talent,
& still One more thing to comment about:
Rainer Kussmaul is the most “Big Fish” in the German/Europe music biz today, he is working with the Best people to find on this earth!
normaly ONLY Berlin Philharmonic players or International solists…, so, if he “took” Guy Tuneh with him on stage and not his “normal” guests like he normaly does, shows that Guy Tuneh Is one of the players what we can say on:
“he is to good to be No. 1”
After such a Genius Elefant, to have this
great randition of Mozart and as a Downloud link,
Wowww…
This bassist is so fine, its a magic! what a heart!
What a Great Idea Mr. Kussmaul!
Thanks Jason! (Boy do I wish I could hear the whole thing) What exquisite chamber music playing.
Part of the German Review from that concert.
(Just google Guy Tuneh under googlenews)
Rainer got it, the only one to get out of this smooth with heads up is realy Guy Tuneh.
BRAVO GUY!!
First time to see bassist who plays Continuo in such a delightful way.
BRAVO MAESTRO!
FINE!!
what a pleasure…
Great I got some ideas for my next chamber music project, what a great peace.
AMAZING playing!
Guy’s Bow hand is one of a kind!!!
(A bit sorry that R. Kussmaul is not so active as his two young colleges.)
How can I downloud and safe this Video?
No words…
AMAZING.
“…und der tanzend symbiotisch mit seinem Kontrabass verbundene Guy Tuneh bildeten eine belebte Basis.”
He is one part with his bass!!
Woww, to get this kind of review, RECPECT!
I would realy like to know about how he Hold/Uses his bow?
Sure it has to do with the fact that he sounds like this!
Even if its not the whole thing,
It is so-far the most intresting Bass-playing I’ve ever seen!
Never got to be expose to so much Musical/Technical delightful details in such a short time.
So much involvement today is rare, in case of Bassists is like one of a kind.
I can not wait to see this guy LIVE!
I think that Kussmaul and Tuneh go Good together.
Both little strong men, its a good ensemble!
I prefer Kussmaul with Tuneh more than Kussmaul and some of the Berlin Philharmonic, Tuneh give it a new light, fresh and very uniqe.
The Philharmonic people some time play without heart, only cold perfect technic!, its like money and how they look, or there own title more importent than the music.
Tuneh does both uniqe Technic and great music from his heart, like he give 160% from himself,
he give everything on stage.
Mr. Kussmaul knows what he do!!
and we can only enjoy from this.
I wish I could see more from this guys!
we started with moronic comments again?
“RUMOR…”
Lucy & Pierre, take a look at Mr. Tuneh’s web,
he did perform with “Les Dissonances” last weekend. the second concert was part of the Festival that was founded by Richter in France.
(one of the must elite festival in France, b.t.w.-the berliner Philharmoniker Solisten & wienna phil. took a part also).
It is clear that phenomena like Guy Tuneh would be asked to perform with such a Great and noble
ensemble and other Great stars in the music world.
(look at this Video – its R. Kussmaul!!…)
why rumor, I’m sure that Mr. Tuneh has so much to do, he is performing with the best people in the
Clasical music in europe and he do it Outstanding!
(sorry for the others – but for me he is the best in the scene, on one playes like him, he is a own level)
“Rumor…” untill now I saw only facts and no rumer!
B.W. – Betty
Where can I pick a Masterclass with this bassman?
I dont like Guy Tuneh!!!
I wonder how strong he would be with standard Orchestra playing.
O.M.G !
its a bird? nooooo
its a palne? noo
its Guy Tuneh!
Mr. Klus Stoll & Co., something Big, real Big is out there…
Opps. You did it again Jason,
You are such “an ugly American”.
I love you “ugly” as you are, just keep it like this!
Thanks Mr. Tuneh, Kussmaul and the rest for this Great Music Video!
G.B.A.
If “Les Dissonances”/David Grimal would pick Guy Tuneh to be 1st Solo-Bassist in his Ensemble we will know about it in France.
Until now no official statmant not from Guy Tuneh & not from the Ensemble.
(but who know, maybe it will come…)
the concert was AMAZING, 3 Bach violin concertos in one evening, Maestro Tuneh played even better than in this Video!
Lets hope that they will pick him, I’ll never lose one of the future concerts.
Next year, 2009/2010 its official!
After years they find what they looked for, to work with someone like Mr. Tuneh.
I know someone who plays in “les Dissonancs”, he told me that things are moving.
What I dont understand is, if its true why both sides are keeping it so low.
The concerts have been like Bomb!!!
FANTASTIC by all MEAN!!!
Great Guy, to live on the border to swiss and france – and to work in Paris & all over europe, man you are my hero!
Good luck.
bla bla,
the video is just Great!
I am a fan and a Friend of Mr. Kussmaul,
Normaly he ferformes with Klaus Stoll or Janna Kaksala, its the first time that he perform in such a small group and give so much “Respect” to the Bass, only two violin and a bass – woww.
BRAVO mr. Kussmaul for presenting this Outstanding Bassist, once again You did great for the next Generation!
A New Dimension of bass playing!
cannt believe that bass palyer show the way to violin players.
bravisimo to both.
So far the best chamber music bassist I’ve ever seen.
What a splendid way to create so much colors and
articulaion!
Is it possible to see more?
Woww
What an inspiration portion!
Great Video,
Very important musician!
Fine!!
Great !
Wow, the Bassist is quite phenomenal, so much grace.
