Guy Tuneh in Sessa Aurunca 2008

Here’s a link to a brief cell-phone video of Guy Tuneh (who has appeared many times in the past on Contrabass Conversations) playing the fourth movement of the Schubert “Trout” Quintet. This link was passed along to me by bassist Cristian Buchholz.

This talent is NOT human – it is from God!!

Take a Good care and BRAVO!

la rara musicalità di Guy Tuneh!

    BRAVISIMO

    Maestro di Maestri !

  4. Dan on July 7th, 2009 8:39 am

This Guy is not from earth!

    However

“brief cell-phone video”, so this how he is normaly playing without knowing that he is getting
    Video’d…

    Wow, respect Maestro!!!

  5. Ritha on July 7th, 2009 8:47 am

In every one of his Videos I can see some new stuf (technical / musical ideas)
the “only” problem is, how can I do this kind of things? (yee and I am speaking about just coping him..)

    Simply the BEST!!

  6. Sherman on July 7th, 2009 8:55 am

Does it mean that Mr. Tuneh dont even know about this video?
    &
Dear “Christian” WHY is it so short?
(could be very important to see the “Bass” Var.)

What a splendid Pizzicato Technic. !!
    the BEST I’ve ever seen!!

  7. Sherman on July 7th, 2009 8:56 am

why I cannot see my respons?

  8. Elvis on July 7th, 2009 10:07 am

I really don’t understand guy tuneh’s playing. Just watching him makes me feel uncomfortable and in my honest opinion his sound is thin and scratchy to my ears. I don’t think a great bassist needs to dance when he plays.

  9. Many_thegrin_GURU on July 7th, 2009 10:07 am

funny I was wondering wich preice is Mr. Tuneh
paying for being this kind of Talent?

  10. peter_love_G.T.! on July 7th, 2009 10:28 am

    Mr. Tuneh

If you read my commant, please think about
producing a DVD/CD, a large number of fans
    are looking forword for this.

    Thanks

    Peter.

Neer the other musicians, it can bee seen that

    Mr. Tuneh is A Phenomenal!

  12. A. on July 7th, 2009 2:27 pm

    One of A Kind!

  13. Yasmin on July 7th, 2009 3:57 pm

Never saw a musician, which EVERY single motion of him playing is like worth GOLD, his motions are PERFECT, like a Complet ARTISTIC WORK,
    Multy Talent from other kind.

Its the first time I see Guy Tuneh, he Changed
something in me and my view at Music.

  14. Josef on July 8th, 2009 12:33 am

    The King of Bass.

  15. Josef on July 8th, 2009 12:42 am

    ahh and Elvis,

Its a “brief cell-phone video”, dont be funny,
what do you think, its not a studio quality!!

and about dance with the bass, I dont see it
    like you,
AND I do think that a Great musician sould be free and move with his instrument!
    it sounds better!!
    so
    start practice.

  16. Josef on July 8th, 2009 12:43 am

    and

If “Elvis” dont understand Guy Tune’s playing

    so way is he commenting????

  17. Robby Revren on July 8th, 2009 1:01 am

Naturaly I would expected to see some low comments,

    its our nature isnt it?

so many comments and some are HUGE,

as a Person I would never like to be like Tuneh,
to be as he is, means to have a hard/strang life in other subject, paying a HEAVY priese!

(I would be so envy, realy!)

Whan Jackson was a live he was an easy target
now les would even dare to say somethings against him, now we learn how said it realy is when he isnt there any more.
we sould use the fact that still there are some Multy_talents out there and enjoy or even get some new idaes from these people.

  18. Nadin D. on July 8th, 2009 1:19 am

    so, ‘Elvis’

You have a hard time being cramped/tensed while playing?!

To me Tuneh is re-defining what is
    GREAT BASS PLAYING!!

    J. – Give us some more!

  19. Christian B. on July 8th, 2009 1:29 am

Let us see/hear you try it “Elvis”!!

  20. Samer on July 8th, 2009 1:36 am

As a True fan of Culture/ART/Music I think that Bass-Virtuos Guy Tuneh still didnt get the right
    recognition he owned!!

But this is way of Life, you cannt get EVERY thing
    from God!

  21. Samer on July 8th, 2009 1:40 am

after looking carefully at this video
Mr. Tuneh is NOT dancing with the bass (and even if he would – it is not bad!!)
he is letting the bass freedom to create the sound,

    True GENIUS
    useing the low of natrue!!

Official DVD could be a great Idea!

  22. Amir on July 8th, 2009 2:47 am

    LEGEND!

uniqe Musical taste mixed with Outstanding
view of bass playing, become true!

  23. Igor on July 8th, 2009 3:51 am

He is giving each Note so much love, like in the old days, people loved what they do and took the time to think about what they present on stage.
Every note has his target in his performance.
    SWEET and Impressive!

  24. N. on July 8th, 2009 4:02 am

Sorry but this kind of performances sould be OUT!!

At 01:05 the violin is playing so out of tune that it makes no fun to open this link!

What does it make, that only the bassist try to do something (which I couldnt understand, but its my limited talent…), the Piano has charm, but all the rest sould think twice about life…

  25. Franco B. on July 8th, 2009 5:01 am

    Caio,

Lets hope that he will be again in Sessa this year
Some are wainting for this event.

    slut – Francesco Bino.

  26. Davidof on July 8th, 2009 5:16 am

    ha ha ha

Strange to have such a comment from some one called ELVIS….

But he is a Great Bassist and certainly one of the Greatset!!
(doubting it only showing that you still have lot to learn about art/Music/bass/clasical instruments playing…)

So, maybe a Great Bassist should “Dance”!!

believe or not but Talent like Tuneh has a very good Reason to do so!!

    (what’s wron’with dancing?)

  27. Sophie on July 8th, 2009 5:34 am

Some would like him and some may not!
(but he is a Brilliant Bass-player!)

  28. Bill in Dallas on July 9th, 2009 2:07 am

I am not a string player, but as a “professional” audience member, I feel compelled to remark that Mr Tuneh seems to move around much more than is appropriate for an ensemble member. His motions seem distracting to me. This is independent of his playing, about which I have no real complaints.

  29. Dragonetti on July 10th, 2009 1:34 am

When solist have to be a “Team-Player”…

  30. Emil on July 10th, 2009 4:58 am

Astonishing that his movements are not distracting
    him from playing so clear!
the others could move a bit more, its chamber music not Meditaion…

  31. John on July 12th, 2009 5:08 am

What a charisma has the bassist.

  32. R. on July 16th, 2009 1:52 am

    to “Bill”

You sould learn about a new way of bass-playing!
Tuneh is nothing like you saw until today!
    (nither I…)

  33. Korneliya on July 19th, 2009 3:47 pm

    BRAVO very new indid!
