Joseph Schwantner and the compositional process

In early 2009, Midwest Young Artists hosted a discussion with composer Joseph Schwantner, who was in town for the Chicago premiere of his piece “Chasing Light…” with the Evanston Symphony. In the following excerpt from this discussion, Joseph chats about his Percussion Concerto, which the MYA Symphony has performed in an earlier season. This video is part of the offerings from WMYA.fm, a free weekly podcast from Midwest Young Artists.
